Cost, access, and getting started
The questions almost everyone asks first.
Is Kinbria really free?
Yes. Free forever, for both parents. There are no per-parent fees, no monthly plan, and no feature that only unlocks once you pay. Most importantly, you never pay to read your own records — you will never be asked for money to read, export, or check a message or calendar change you already made.
Then how do you make money?
We stay free by not building the expensive things. Kinbria deliberately skips in-app calling, money transfer, and large file storage — the features that force other apps to charge. That keeps our costs low enough that a small, focused tool can be given away.
Kinbria is owned by Draco Inc. and runs as an access-to-justice project. It is supported by optional donations from people who want to keep it available for families who could not otherwise afford a records service. Donating is never required and unlocks nothing extra.
Do I need my co-parent to sign up for this to be useful?
To exchange messages and share a calendar, yes — both parents need accounts, because it is a two-way conversation. You create your account first and send an invitation; your co-parent joins from that invite.
You do not need their permission to start, and you do not have to explain your reasons. Many parents simply say they would like to keep scheduling and messages in one calm, organized place.
What if my co-parent refuses to join?
You cannot force anyone to use a communication tool, and we would not want to. What often helps is context: many families are asked by a court, mediator, or attorney to use a written channel where messages can’t be secretly changed, and a free option removes the usual objection about cost.
If they still decline, Kinbria may not be the right fit yet — and that is okay. This is not legal advice; if communication itself is the problem, your attorney or a family-law facilitator can advise on your specific situation.
Is there an app, or is it a website?
Both. The full web app is live at /app and works in any modern browser on your phone or computer. It is also a native app for iPhone and iPad with a biometric lock (Face ID / Touch ID). Kinbria is available in the United States at launch.
How the record-keeping actually works

Are Kinbria records admissible in court?
Whether a record is accepted is always the judge’s decision — no service can promise it, and you should be wary of any that claims to. What Kinbria does is give you records designed for court and built to prove on their own that they’re genuine, so a certified record can stand on its own — you shouldn’t need a witness just to confirm the file is real.
In plain terms: we make the record as easy as possible to confirm as genuine. Whether it comes in, and how it is weighed, is up to the court. This is general information, not legal advice — talk to your attorney about your case.
Can a message or calendar change be edited or deleted after the fact?
No. Every message and every calendar change goes into a permanent record that only adds, never edits or erases — each entry is sealed to the one before it, and the system itself won’t let entries be rewritten. You can add a correction, but you cannot silently change or erase what was already recorded.
If anyone tried to alter a stored entry, the seal would no longer line up, and the change would show. That is why we say a record can’t be secretly changed.
What is a "certified record"?
A certified record is a sealed, dated official copy anyone can check. It bundles three things:
- A digital seal proving the record came from Kinbria and was not altered.
- A trusted date stamp from an outside authority, proving when it existed.
- A certification — a signed statement from a named person at Draco Inc. — so the record is built to prove on its own that it’s genuine.
Together these let a certified record prove it’s genuine on its own, rather than relying on someone’s memory or a screenshot.
How does the public verification page work?
Every certified record carries a short code. Anyone — a judge, a lawyer, a mediator, your co-parent — can go to /verify/{code} and check that the record is genuine and unchanged. No login, no account, no Kinbria membership required.
The check page never shows the content of your messages. It only tells you whether the record still matches its seal — a green “unchanged” or a warning that something does not match. Your private conversation stays private while anyone can still confirm the record is genuine.
Could Kinbria itself secretly rewrite the record?
This is the right question to ask of any records service, and we designed against it. Once a day, the whole record is stamped by an outside, independent authority with a trusted date stamp. That date stamp is not something we can fake or take back.
So even a bad actor with full control of our servers could not quietly rewrite history: any change would break the seal, and the change would have to have happened before a date stamp we do not control. It’s built so the record protects itself — you don’t just have to take our word for it.
Can I export or print my records?
Yes. You can export and print your conversation and calendar history at any time, for free. For anything you may present to a court, use a certified record export — that is the version that carries the digital seal, trusted date stamp, custodian certification, and short code anyone can use to check it’s genuine.

Who can actually read my messages?
Your conversation is visible only to:
- The two parents in the conversation.
- The system owner / administrator at Draco Inc. (see the encryption question below for why).
- Anyone you choose to invite as a view-only guest — for example, your attorney or therapist.
Messages are encrypted — scrambled so outsiders can’t read them — both while stored and while traveling across the internet. Your co-parent cannot invite outsiders to your view; only the account owner can start an invitation.
Is Kinbria end-to-end encrypted?
No — and we want to be completely straight with you about that. Kinbria uses strong encryption (your messages are scrambled while stored and while traveling across the internet) plus strict access control. But your messages are not hidden from us: the people who run Kinbria can access the content.
That is a deliberate design choice, not an oversight. Two of Kinbria’s core promises would be impossible if even we couldn’t read the content: our system has to be able to read a record to produce a certified court copy that proves on its own it’s genuine, and a records custodian has to be able to stand behind it. We chose court-readiness over hiding content from ourselves — and we would rather tell you plainly than imply your messages are hidden from Kinbria when they are not.
How do I invite my lawyer or therapist to view the conversation?
From your account, you can invite a trusted person as a view-only guest. They can read the conversation and calendar history but cannot post messages, make changes, or invite anyone else. Only you can initiate the invite, and you can remove their access at any time.
What happens if I delete my account?
You can close your account whenever you like. Before you do, export anything you want to keep — including certified records — because you may lose day-to-day access to the conversation afterward.
One honest caveat: the shared record does not belong to one parent alone. So that the history stays trustworthy and can’t be secretly changed, and so any certified records already issued stay valid, some record data may be kept as required for those obligations. If you are not safe
Kinbria is designed with high-conflict and abusive situations in mind.
Is Kinbria safe to use if my co-parent is abusive?
Safety shaped the design. Protected accounts require two-factor sign-in — a second step beyond your password, such as a code from an authenticator app — and our sign-in is deliberately non-committal: it will not confirm to someone whether a given email is or is not on Kinbria, so it cannot be used to hunt for you. Only the account owner can start an invitation, so no one can add themselves to your account.
Nothing shows when you are online or have opened a message. You get an emergency option to delete or hide the app quickly, and any location feature is a rough, opt-in check-in only (planned for v1) — never continuous tracking.

I am fleeing abuse and cannot afford anything. Is there help?
Kinbria is already free for everyone, so there is nothing to pay. For domestic-violence and hardship situations we also provide automatic free access to the full feature set — you never have to justify cost or ask for a discount, because there is no cost. Our access-to-justice mission exists precisely so that a documented, court-ready channel is available to the people who need it most.
Where you can use Kinbria
What states or countries is Kinbria available in?
Kinbria is available throughout the United States at launch, in every state. We are not available outside the U.S. yet. The court-record features are built around U.S. court rules; if you are elsewhere, the tools that keep records from being secretly changed and let anyone check a record is genuine still work, but you should ask a local attorney how records are confirmed as genuine where you live.
